PM Modi Congratulates Nitin Nabin on Taking Charge as BJP National President, Highlights Millennial Leadership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Nitin Nabin after he assumed charge as the new national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), describing his elevation as a reflection of generational transition and modern leadership within the party. Speaking at a ceremony held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, the Prime Minister underscored that the party is now in the hands of a leader who has witnessed India’s transformation across decades.

Calling Nitin Nabin a “millennial in spirit,” PM Modi said the new BJP chief belongs to a generation that has experienced sweeping economic and technological change. “Nitin ji himself is, in a way, a millennial. He belongs to a generation that heard news on the radio in childhood and today is well-versed in using artificial intelligence,” the Prime Minister remarked, highlighting the blend of experience and adaptability that Nabin brings to the role.

Nitin Nabin formally took over as the BJP’s national president on Tuesday after being elected unopposed during the nomination process on Monday. He succeeds Union Health Minister JP Nadda, who completed his term at the helm of the party. The smooth transition reflects strong internal consensus within the BJP leadership.

At the event, PM Modi also paid tribute to former BJP national presidents Amit Shah and JP Nadda, crediting their leadership for helping the party retain power at the Centre and significantly expand its organisational footprint across the country. He said their efforts strengthened the BJP both electorally and institutionally.

Congratulating Nabin on assuming the party’s top organisational post, the Prime Minister noted that the new president would now be his “boss in matters related to the party,” underscoring the importance of internal discipline and organisational hierarchy. He further said that Nabin’s responsibilities extend beyond the BJP to ensuring effective coordination within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

“Nitin Nabin ji is now our president. His responsibility is not limited to the BJP alone; it also includes strengthening coordination within the NDA,” PM Modi said.

A senior politician from Bihar, Nitin Nabin is a five-time member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and has previously served as a minister in the Bihar government. He is widely regarded as a skilled organiser with strong administrative experience and a deep understanding of grassroots politics.

With Nabin at the helm, the BJP is expected to focus on organisational strengthening, generational leadership transition, and preparations for upcoming electoral challenges, while maintaining cohesion within the NDA. His appointment signals the party’s intent to combine experience with a forward-looking approach in an era defined by rapid technological and social change.
