UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in New Delhi on Monday for an official visit to India, underscoring the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally received the West Asian leader at the Delhi airport, reflecting the warmth and importance India attaches to its ties with the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi and builds on the strong momentum created by frequent high-level engagements between the leadership of both countries. The visit comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in West Asia, adding further significance to the discussions.
Welcoming the UAE President, Prime Minister Modi took to social media platform X and described Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed as a “brother,” highlighting the close personal rapport between the two leaders. The Prime Minister said the visit illustrates the importance the UAE President attaches to strengthening the India-UAE friendship and expressed optimism about the discussions scheduled during the visit.
The UAE President’s stay in New Delhi is expected to last around two hours, during which he will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi later in the evening. The discussions are likely to focus on key areas of cooperation, including trade and investment, energy security, defence collaboration, regional stability, and global issues of mutual concern.
This marks Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s third official visit to India since assuming office as President of the United Arab Emirates. It is also his fifth visit to the country over the past decade, reflecting the sustained engagement and growing strategic alignment between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi.
India and the UAE share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with cooperation spanning sectors such as commerce, renewable energy, technology, food security, and people-to-people ties. The UAE is also one of India’s largest trading partners and a key destination for Indian professionals and businesses.
The visit is expected to further reinforce bilateral relations and signal continued collaboration between the two countries amid evolving regional and global challenges.
