Odisha Gets Temporary Respite from Cold Wave, IMD Predicts Gradual Rise in Temperature

Odisha is experiencing mild relief from the recent cold wave as night temperatures begin to show a gradual increase after days of severe chill. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the intensity of the cold that had tightly gripped the state over the past week has started to weaken since Tuesday, with further reduction expected from Wednesday onward.

IMD Forecasts Temperature Rise by 2–3°C

The weather office has projected a gradual temperature increase of 2–3 degrees Celsius over the next three days across most regions of Odisha. However, residents in interior, northern, and southern districts may continue to feel the chill during morning and night hours due to persistent cold winds and local weather influences.

In the last 24 hours, Phulbani was the coldest in the state at 8°C, while Rourkela felt relatively cooler due to local atmospheric conditions.

Residents Advised to Remain Cautious

Despite the warming trend, early mornings and late evenings remain chilly, prompting people to use warm clothing and heating arrangements. Health experts have warned against seasonal infections and respiratory issues, especially among children, senior citizens, and those with chronic illnesses, as fluctuating temperatures pose health risks.

Officials have urged the public to avoid prolonged exposure to cold winds, maintain proper nutrition, and continue taking winter precautions.

Moderate Relief Expected, But Local Chill to Persist

With temperatures gradually rising, residents can expect some relief from the intense cold in the coming days, although localized pockets, particularly in hilly and interior regions, may still record lower temperatures.

The IMD continues to monitor the situation and issue updates to ensure public safety during the transition period.
