An Air India Express flight en route from Delhi to Bhubaneswar made an unscheduled landing in Jaipur on Wednesday after the crew identified a concern related to fuel availability mid-flight.
Precautionary Diversion Mid-Air
The incident involved flight IX-1057, which had taken off from Delhi and was heading toward Bhubaneswar when the pilot opted for a precautionary diversion. The aircraft was safely rerouted to Jaipur, where it landed without any complications.
Airline officials clarified that the decision was purely preventive, with no technical malfunction or emergency reported onboard.
Passengers Safe, Aircraft Grounded Temporarily
Following the landing, passengers were asked to remain seated inside the aircraft as airline and airport authorities coordinated the next steps. The aircraft remained stationed at Jaipur airport for further checks and arrangements.
No injuries or damage were reported, and all passengers and crew members were safe.
Similar Incident Earlier This Week
In a separate case on April 26, an Air India flight travelling from Mumbai to Bhopal also made a precautionary landing due to a suspected technical issue. The airline confirmed that standard safety procedures were followed and all passengers disembarked safely.
Ongoing Fleet Upgrade
Meanwhile, Air India recently completed a full cabin retrofit of its first Boeing 787-8 as part of a broader fleet modernization programme aimed at improving passenger experience and operational efficiency.
Safety First Approach
The Jaipur diversion underscores the aviation sector’s strict adherence to safety protocols, where even minor concerns are addressed promptly to ensure passenger well-being.
