Odisha Weather: Rain To Continue For Three More Days, Fresh Low-Pressure Area Likely Over Bay Of Bengal

Bhubaneswar: Rainfall is expected to continue across Odisha over the next three days as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts another weather system developing over the Bay of Bengal. The fresh system could trigger another spell of heavy rain across several parts of the state.

The weather department has also issued warnings for thunderstorms and rainfall in several districts as the existing system continues to influence weather conditions over Odisha.

Fresh Cyclonic Circulation Likely Around August 19

According to the IMD forecast, a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the North Bay of Bengal around August 19.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area may form over the north-west Bay of Bengal around August 20. The system could subsequently increase rainfall activity, particularly across coastal and central parts of Odisha.

The development of another low-pressure system comes as the state continues to experience rainfall under the influence of the existing weather system.

Heavy Rain Forecast In Northern And Western Odisha

The current low-pressure system over coastal West Bengal, adjoining Bangladesh and the north-west Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression. The system is moving northwestwards through West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Its influence is expected to bring heavy rainfall to northern and western Odisha during the day. The IMD has issued an orange warning for four districts and a yellow warning for nine districts.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to remain alert and follow weather-related advisories issued by local authorities.

Another Spell Of Rain Likely In Coastal Odisha

The upcoming weather system expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal could further strengthen rainfall activity in coastal and central Odisha.

With back-to-back weather systems developing over the Bay of Bengal, rainfall activity is likely to remain active across the state in the coming days. Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas are expected to closely monitor the latest IMD updates.
