Indian Railways Approves 7 New Amrit Bharat Express Trains; Odisha Already Connected To Major Cities

The Railway Board has approved seven new Amrit Bharat Express services to improve affordable and long-distance rail connectivity between major cities and regional centres across India. The new trains will cover important destinations across northern, central, western and southern parts of the country.

The Amrit Bharat Express network is designed to provide a comfortable and economical travel option, particularly for lower and lower-middle-income passengers travelling between major urban centres.

While none of the seven newly approved services is listed as a direct Odisha-origin train, the state already has multiple Amrit Bharat Express services connecting important cities in Odisha with destinations across India.

Seven New Amrit Bharat Express Trains Approved

Among the newly approved services is the Dhanbad-Coimbatore Amrit Bharat Express (22363/22364). The proposed route will connect major railway centres including Dhanbad, Gaya, Prayagraj, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur.

The Railway Board has also approved the Prayagraj-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Amrit Bharat Express (20436/20435) as a weekly service. The train will cover important stations such as Prayagraj, Satna, Jabalpur, Itarsi, Bhusaval and Kalyan.

Another weekly service, the Prayagraj-Udhna Amrit Bharat Express (20437/20438), will connect Prayagraj with Udhna, with proposed halts at Fatehpur, Govindpuri, Etawah, Agra, Kota, Ratlam and Vadodara, among other stations.

The Subedarganj-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Amrit Bharat Express (14121/14122) has also received approval. The proposed route includes Banda, Satna, Katni, Jabalpur, Itarsi, Khandwa, Bhusaval, Nashik Road, Kalyan and Thane.

Two New Amrit Bharat Services From Gorakhpur

Two of the approved services will originate from Gorakhpur, further strengthening connectivity between eastern Uttar Pradesh and major northern and western cities.

The Gorakhpur-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express (15095/15096) will connect Gorakhpur with Delhi through stations including Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad and Ghaziabad.

The Gorakhpur-Bandra Terminus Amrit Bharat Express (15085/15086) will provide connectivity towards Mumbai through Gonda, Aishbagh, Kanpur Central, Agra Fort, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, Surat, Valsad, Vapi, Palghar and Borivali.

The seventh approved service, the Charlapalli-Gorakhpur Amrit Bharat Express (22075/22076), will link Telangana and Uttar Pradesh through major stations such as Kazipet, Peddapalli, Manchiryal, Balharshah, Nagpur, Bhopal, Bina, Jhansi, Kanpur Central, Lucknow and Gonda.

Odisha Already Has Multiple Amrit Bharat Connections

Odisha has already benefited from the expansion of the Amrit Bharat Express network, with several services connecting the state to major destinations in western, southern, eastern and northeastern India.

The Brahmapur-Udhna (Surat) Amrit Bharat Express provides direct connectivity between Brahmapur and Gujarat, strengthening passenger movement between Odisha and western India.

The Podanur-Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Express connects southern India with Jharkhand and passes through several important locations in Odisha. Key Odisha stations include Rayagada, Muniguda, Kesinga, Titlagarh, Balangir, Bargarh Road, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Rourkela.

Another important service is the Kamakhya-Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, which connects Assam with Telangana while passing through major railway stations in Odisha. Its Odisha halts include Berhampur, Balugaon, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak and Balasore.

Amrit Bharat Network To Expand Further

The approval of seven additional Amrit Bharat Express services is expected to strengthen India’s long-distance rail network and provide passengers with more affordable travel options.

For Odisha, the continued expansion of the Amrit Bharat network is particularly significant as existing services are already connecting the state’s major railway corridors with cities across Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Telangana, Assam and other regions.

The new services, along with existing routes, are expected to further improve interstate passenger connectivity and support easier movement between regional centres and major economic hubs.
