Odisha Government Reshuffles Six Senior IPS Officers, New Postings Announced

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday announced a minor reshuffle of senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, assigning new responsibilities to six officials across key wings of the state police administration.

The changes were notified by the Home Department and include new postings in the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Intelligence, Southern Range, Northern Range, Provisioning and Northern Central Range.

Himansu Kumar Lal Gets EOW, STF Charge

Himansu Kumar Lal, who was serving as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Northern Range, Sambalpur, has been transferred to Bhubaneswar.

He has been appointed IGP, Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Bhubaneswar, and will also hold additional responsibility for the Special Task Force (STF).

His new assignment places him in charge of two important police wings dealing with economic offences and specialised operations.

Satyabrat Bhoi Appointed IGP, Intelligence

Satyabrat Bhoi, who was serving as IGP, Northern Central Range, Talcher, has been posted as IGP, Intelligence.

Bhoi was also holding additional charge as the Principal of the Police Training College, Angul. Under the reshuffle, he will continue with the additional responsibility of the training institution.

Jai Narayan Pankaj Moves to Southern Range

Jai Narayan Pankaj, who was serving as IGP, Intelligence, Odisha, Bhubaneswar, has been transferred to Southern Range, Berhampur, where he will take charge as IGP.

The Southern Range covers important districts in southern Odisha and the new appointment marks a significant change in the senior police leadership of the region.

Niti Shekhar Posted as IGP, Provisioning

The outgoing Southern Range IGP, Niti Shekhar, has been transferred to the State Police Headquarters.

Shekhar will serve as IGP, Provisioning, taking charge of responsibilities related to police provisioning and associated administrative functions.

Two DIG-Level Changes Announced

The government has also made changes at the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) level.

Charan Singh Meena, who was serving as DIG, Provisioning, has been transferred and appointed DIG, Northern Range, Sambalpur.

Meanwhile, Ashish Kumar Singh, who recently returned to Odisha following his repatriation from central deputation, has been appointed DIG, Northern Central Range, Talcher.

Singh will also continue to hold the additional responsibility of Principal, Police Training College, Angul.

Six Officers Get New Responsibilities

The reshuffle affects six senior IPS officers and brings changes to several strategically important police assignments in Odisha.

The latest appointments are expected to strengthen administrative coordination and leadership across different wings and ranges of the state police. The movement of senior officers also comes with changes in responsibilities covering intelligence, economic offences, specialised operations, police provisioning and regional policing.
