The results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2026 were officially announced on Monday, bringing an end to one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance examinations. Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone emerged as the national topper, securing All India Rank (AIR) 1 in the Common Rank List (CRL) with an outstanding score of 330 out of 360 marks.
A total of 56,880 candidates have qualified for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other participating institutions, paving the way for the next phase of the admission process through JoSAA counselling.
Shubham Kumar Tops JEE Advanced 2026
Shubham Kumar’s remarkable performance placed him at the top of the merit list in a highly competitive examination that witnessed participation from nearly 1.8 lakh candidates across the country.
The IIT Delhi zone dominated the top ranks this year, with candidates from the zone securing the first three positions in the Common Rank List.

The race for the top position was exceptionally close, with Kabeer Chhillar missing the top rank by just one mark.
Arohi Deshpande Emerges as Top Female Candidate
Among female candidates, Arohi Deshpande from the IIT Delhi zone secured the highest rank.
She achieved:
- Common Rank List (CRL): 77
- Score: 280 out of 360 marks
Her performance placed her among the top-ranked candidates nationwide and highlighted the growing participation and success of women in engineering entrance examinations.
More Than 10,000 Women Qualify
The 2026 results also reflected strong participation by female candidates.
Out of the total qualified candidates:
- 10,107 candidates are women
This represents a significant contribution to the overall success rate and aligns with ongoing efforts to improve gender representation in technical education.

The examination was conducted on May 17, 2026, with candidates appearing for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 at centres nationwide.
JoSAA Counselling Process Begins Next
With the declaration of results, the admission process now shifts to the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling.
Qualified candidates have been advised to:
- Register for JoSAA 2026 counselling.
- Complete choice filling and preference selection.
- Participate in seat allocation rounds.
- Verify eligibility and document requirements during admission.
The counselling process will determine admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and other participating institutions.
Admission Criteria Remain Unchanged
Officials clarified that seat allocation through JoSAA is based on rank and preference choices and remains independent of Class 12 percentage scores.
However, candidates must still satisfy all eligibility conditions and documentation requirements specified in the official admission guidelines before securing final admission.
Focus Shifts to IIT Admissions
With the merit list now published, thousands of successful candidates will compete for seats in India’s premier engineering institutions.
