CUET UG 2026: NTA Issues Dress Code, Exam Day Guidelines for Candidates

The National Testing Agency has released an important advisory for candidates appearing in the Common University Entrance Test.

The entrance examination for undergraduate admissions will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode from May 11 to May 31, 2026, across India and in 15 cities outside the country.

The latest notice outlines key exam-day instructions covering permissible items, dress code, and security screening procedures that candidates must follow for hassle-free entry into exam centres.

Transparent water bottles allowed

According to the advisory, candidates will be permitted to carry transparent water bottles inside the examination centre.

The agency said this relaxation has been made for candidate convenience, especially considering long examination hours and weather conditions in several parts of the country.

Religious articles allowed with prior reporting

Candidates may also carry religious articles or objects of faith, but these must be reported in advance at the examination centre.

NTA clarified that such items will be subject to security screening during frisking, and prior disclosure will help avoid delays during entry.

Recommended dress code for CUET UG 2026

The testing agency has advised students to wear white or light-coloured clothes on the day of the examination.

Depending on weather conditions, candidates may wear woollen clothing if necessary. However, such garments should be declared beforehand so security staff can conduct proper frisking without inconvenience.

Footwear guidelines

Candidates have been advised to wear normal shoes, slippers, or low-heeled footwear.

The agency indicated that high heels and bulky footwear may not be suitable during security checks and could slow down the entry process.

Frisking and reporting instructions

NTA has urged all candidates to report any item that may require frisking before entering the exam venue.

Officials said early disclosure of such items will help ensure smooth movement of candidates and maintain security protocols at all centres.

NTA asks candidates to cooperate

The agency has appealed to candidates to follow the instructions carefully and cooperate with examination staff for the smooth conduct of the national-level entrance examination.

For any clarification, candidates can visit the official NTA portal at National Testing Agency or the CUET portal at CUET UG official website.

Candidates can also contact the NTA Help Desk at 011-40759000 or write to cuet-ug@nta.ac.in for assistance.
