‘Bhooth Bangla’ Box Office: Akshay Kumar–Priyadarshan Horror-Comedy Holds Strong After Solid Opening

The horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Akshay Kumar, continues its steady run at the box office after an impressive opening weekend. Despite the expected weekday dip, the film has maintained momentum, crossing ₹72 crore net in India within five days.

Strong Start and Stable Weekday Performance

The film recorded ₹7.65 crore net on Tuesday, pushing its domestic total to ₹72.40 crore. It had already built early buzz through paid previews, earning ₹3.75 crore before its official release. On opening day, the film collected ₹12.25 crore, followed by a sharp rise over the weekend—₹19 crore on Saturday and ₹23 crore on Sunday.

As anticipated, collections dipped on Monday to ₹6.75 crore, but the film has managed to sustain a stable hold, indicating positive word-of-mouth and consistent audience interest.

Outperforming Recent Horror-Comedies

Bhooth Bangla has outperformed several recent films in the same genre. It has surpassed the five-day collections of Bhediya starring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon (₹35.86 crore), as well as Munjya featuring Sharvari and Abhay Verma (₹27.40 crore).

However, it is slightly behind the benchmark set by Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starring Kartik Aaryan (₹76.27 crore in five days) and Thamma featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna (₹78.70 crore).

Cast Praises Reunion

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who has collaborated with both Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan in the past, expressed his excitement about working with them again. He described the experience as enjoyable and energising, highlighting the positive atmosphere on set.

Speaking about Priyadarshan, Rawal praised the director’s efficiency and clarity, noting that he is known for completing shoots ahead of schedule due to his precise planning and execution.

Outlook

With a solid start and steady weekday performance, Bhooth Bangla is expected to continue its run at the box office, especially if it maintains audience engagement through the coming weekend.
