Heavy firing and shelling broke out in the Dorimal forest area of Rajouri on Thursday as Operation Sheruwali entered a crucial phase, with security forces tightening the cordon to neutralise suspected militants hiding in the dense forest terrain.
According to officials, massive reinforcements and logistical support have been rushed to the encounter site to establish what authorities described as a “strong and impenetrable cordon” and prevent militants from escaping through the thick forest cover.
Large-Scale Counter-Terror Operation Underway
The operation is being conducted jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force.
Officials said every possible effort is being made to track and neutralise the suspected militants hiding deep inside the forest region.
The entire area remains under heavy security surveillance, while search and combing operations continue across the forest belt.
