The Food Safety Department conducted inspections at several food zones in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday as part of an enforcement drive aimed at checking the quality and safety of food being served to customers.
The inspection was carried out amid continued efforts by authorities to ensure that restaurants, fast-food centres and other food businesses comply with prescribed food safety standards.
Food Zone At Jayadev Vihar Inspected
One of the major inspection locations was a mall in the Jayadev Vihar area, where food safety officials visited the food zone and examined multiple outlets.
Officials checked food items being prepared and sold to customers, along with the conditions in which food products were being handled and stored. The inspection was intended to identify any violations of food safety norms and ensure that consumers are provided with safe food.
Three Teams Conduct Simultaneous Checks
According to reports, three inspection teams were deployed during the drive. The teams carried out checks at different locations simultaneously and examined food products and other items available at the outlets.
Officials reportedly paid particular attention to establishments dealing in frozen food products. The teams checked the condition of these products and examined whether they were being stored appropriately.
Proper storage is particularly important for frozen food as inadequate temperature control or improper handling can affect food quality and safety.
Second Food Safety Drive In Bhubaneswar
The latest inspection forms part of a wider food safety enforcement campaign in the state capital. Authorities have been carrying out checks at different food establishments to assess compliance with food safety requirements.
Food Safety Officer Satyajit Patel said the department was conducting its second food safety drive at fast-food centres in Jayadev Vihar.
“Based on the situation, we are conducting the second food safety drive at fast-food centres in Jayadev Vihar. Food safety officials are inspecting the shops, and further action will be taken based on the findings of the raid,” Patel said.
Further Action Based On Inspection Findings
During the operation, officials examined food products, their quality and the manner in which they were being handled at various outlets.
The department is expected to take further action wherever violations are detected. The findings of the inspection will determine whether establishments require warnings, corrective measures or other action under applicable food safety regulations.
The continued inspections are aimed at strengthening surveillance of food businesses in Bhubaneswar and ensuring that customers receive food that meets prescribed safety and hygiene standards.
