Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience widespread rainfall over the next five days as two cyclonic circulations continue to influence weather conditions across the state. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Bhubaneswar, has issued a yellow warning for 21 districts for Saturday, advising residents to remain alert to changing weather conditions.
Rainfall activity is expected across southern, northern and coastal Odisha, with some districts likely to receive heavier spells.
Heavy Rain Forecast in Four Districts
According to the weather forecast, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi could receive around 7 to 11 cm of rainfall.
Another 17 districts have been placed under a yellow alert for the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Residents in the affected districts have been advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms, particularly in open areas and while travelling.
Two Cyclonic Circulations Behind Rainfall
The RMC attributed the continuing rainfall activity to two cyclonic circulations influencing the region.
The first system is positioned over north Odisha and adjoining areas of South Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand.
The second circulation is located over the west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, extending towards the Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts.
The combined influence of these weather systems is expected to maintain favourable conditions for rainfall across several parts of Odisha.
Rain Expected to Continue for Five Days
The weather department has forecast continued rainfall activity across Odisha for the next five days.
While rainfall intensity may vary from district to district, several areas are expected to receive intermittent spells during this period. Some locations could also experience thunderstorms and lightning alongside the rain.
With the weather systems remaining active, residents are advised to follow updates from the meteorological authorities and take necessary precautions during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The latest forecast comes amid continued weather activity across the state, with authorities keeping a close watch on rainfall patterns and their potential impact on daily life and local conditions.
