More than one crore women in Odisha are set to receive financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima, with the state government announcing that the fifth instalment will be disbursed on August 28.
Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced the development on Monday, stating that the latest Subhadra payment will be released during a state-level programme scheduled to be held in Nayagarh.
The announcement is expected to provide financial relief to eligible women across the state who have been waiting for the next instalment under the Odisha government’s flagship women-focused welfare scheme.
Fifth Subhadra Instalment On Rakhi Purnima
According to the announcement, the fifth instalment of Subhadra Yojana assistance will be credited to eligible beneficiaries on August 28.
The timing of the disbursement coincides with Rakhi Purnima, giving the annual festival an added significance for millions of women beneficiaries across Odisha.
The state-level programme in Nayagarh will formally mark the release of the financial assistance.
Left-Out Beneficiaries To Receive Pending Instalments Together
In a significant decision, the Odisha government has also clarified that eligible women who were left out of earlier instalments will not lose their benefits.
Beneficiaries whose applications were submitted earlier but were subsequently found eligible will receive their pending five instalments together, according to the Deputy Chief Minister.
This provision is expected to benefit women whose applications could not be processed during previous disbursement rounds because of verification or other eligibility-related issues.
Applications Submitted By August 28 To Be Considered
The government has further stated that women who submit their applications by August 28 will be considered for the Subhadra assistance through the district-wise process.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said there would be no loss of benefits for eligible women who were left out previously.
She also indicated that women who had applied earlier and are subsequently confirmed as eligible will receive the accumulated instalments together.
Subhadra Scheme Aims To Support Women Financially
The Subhadra Yojana is one of the Odisha government’s major welfare initiatives focused on improving the financial empowerment of women.
The latest disbursement is expected to provide direct financial support to more than one crore beneficiaries across the state.
With the fifth instalment scheduled for August 28, women beneficiaries are expected to receive the assistance during the Rakhi Purnima celebrations, while the provision for pending instalments is likely to provide additional support to eligible women who were previously excluded from payments.
The state-level event in Nayagarh will serve as the platform for the government to formally launch the latest round of Subhadra financial assistance.
