The maiden edition of the multinational joint military exercise Exercise PRAGATI 2026 is currently underway at Umroi in Meghalaya, bringing together more than 400 military personnel from 12 friendly nations to strengthen regional peace, security and military cooperation.
The large-scale exercise, which began on May 20, is aimed at enhancing interoperability among participating armies through joint training, tactical drills and professional exchanges in a multinational environment.
Mixed Teams Training In Jungle And Semi-Mountainous Terrain
One of the major highlights of Exercise PRAGATI 2026 has been the formation of integrated mixed teams comprising military personnel from all participating countries.
Over the past three days, these teams have undertaken intensive training exercises in semi-mountainous and jungle terrain, focusing on operational coordination and combat preparedness.
The training modules include rock craft, ambush and counter-ambush drills, slithering exercises, jungle lane shooting and bus intervention operations. Sniper firing and AK-203 rifle firing competitions have also been organised to improve tactical skills, operational confidence and mutual professional understanding among troops from different nations.
Officials said the exercise is helping soldiers gain valuable exposure to multinational operational practices while improving coordination during joint missions and peacekeeping operations.
Sports Activities Strengthen Camaraderie
Apart from combat-oriented drills, the exercise has also focused on building camaraderie and strengthening military bonding among the participating nations through sports and informal interactions.
Military personnel took part in basketball, volleyball and tug-of-war competitions, promoting teamwork, trust and the spirit of cooperation among soldiers from different countries.
Defence officials stated that Exercise PRAGATI 2026 is playing an important role in deepening military-to-military cooperation and enhancing collective regional readiness.
