The Odisha government on Monday authorised the release of more than Rs 61 crore to nearly 79,000 beneficiaries who had earlier been left out of the flagship Subhadra scheme.
The financial assistance was disbursed through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system under the supervision of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida. Officials said the fresh release targets genuine beneficiaries whose payments had been delayed due to verification issues and technical glitches.
Thousands Receive Pending Instalments
After the resolution of pending verification cases at multiple administrative levels, the government cleared a large number of delayed payments.
According to the official breakdown:
- First instalment: 21,901 beneficiaries received their initial payment.
- Second instalment: 22,347 beneficiaries were provided their second round of assistance.
- Third instalment: The largest group, comprising 79,601 beneficiaries, received the third instalment after final clearance.
The release is expected to bring relief to thousands of women who had been awaiting financial support under the scheme.
Technical Issues Had Delayed Payments
Officials from the Women and Child Development Department said the main reasons behind earlier exclusions included inactive NPCI linkages, biometric e-KYC mismatches, and unresolved grievances in beneficiary records.
These technical barriers had temporarily prevented eligible beneficiaries from receiving funds despite being enrolled under the welfare programme.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said the government has put in place a stronger verification mechanism to ensure that genuine beneficiaries are not denied assistance.
Focus on Left-Out Cases in Key Districts
During the review, Parida also assessed pending cases from districts including Ganjam, Jajpur, and Kalahandi.
She directed district administrations to work closely with verification teams and field-level officers to ensure that all remaining eligible beneficiaries are brought under the scheme without further delay.
Push for Inclusive Welfare Delivery
The latest disbursement reflects the Odisha government’s effort to strengthen welfare delivery and address gaps in beneficiary coverage.
Officials said the administration is continuing to monitor pending grievances so that no eligible person remains excluded from the Subhadra scheme in the coming phases.
