A Record-Breaking Journey Since 2007
Since making his international debut in Belfast on June 23, 2007, Rohit Sharma has carved out a legendary career, rewriting record books and establishing himself as one of the finest batters in modern cricket. Known for his effortless stroke play and ability to dominate attacks, Rohit continues to inspire a new generation of cricketers.
Dominance Across Formats
Over the years, Rohit has excelled in all three formats of the game:
- Test Cricket:
Debuting in 2013, he featured in 67 matches, scoring 4,301 runs, including 12 centuries and 18 fifties. His highest score of 212 came against South Africa in 2019. His transformation as a Test opener in 2019 marked a turning point, with multiple centuries in his first series in the role. - T20 Internationals:
A key member of India’s victorious ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad in 2007 and the title-winning captain in 2024, Rohit amassed 4,231 runs in 159 matches. He holds the record for joint-most centuries (five) in T20Is and became the first male cricketer to play over 150 matches in the format before retiring in 2024. - One Day Internationals (ODIs):
Rohit remains a dominant force in ODIs, scoring 11,577 runs in 282 matches at an average close to 49, including 33 centuries and 61 fifties. He holds the record for the highest individual score in ODI history (264 runs) and has smashed three double centuries—more than any other player.
A Leader Who Delivered on the Big Stage
As captain, Rohit led India to multiple major finals, including the ICC World Test Championship final and the ICC Cricket World Cup final in 2023. Though India narrowly missed out on both titles, he redeemed those setbacks by guiding the team to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, ending a 13-year ICC trophy drought.
He further cemented his leadership legacy by leading India to a ICC Champions Trophy triumph in 2025.
IPL Success and Legacy
Beyond international cricket, Rohit has enjoyed immense success in the Indian Premier League, winning six titles in the first 15 editions—an achievement that underscores his tactical brilliance and consistency.
An Enduring Icon of the Game
Even as he transitions into the latter phase of his career, Rohit Sharma remains a vital force in ODI cricket. His journey—from a promising youngster to one of the game’s all-time greats—stands as a testament to talent, resilience, and evolution.
With records, trophies, and unforgettable innings to his name, the ‘Hitman’ continues to leave an indelible mark on the world of cricket.
