Indian Embassy Advises Citizens to Avoid Travel to Iran Amid Rising Tensions

New Delhi: The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued a fresh advisory urging Indian citizens to avoid travelling to Iran due to ongoing regional tensions and disruptions in flight operations.

In a statement shared on X, the Embassy cautioned that airspace restrictions and operational uncertainties continue to impact international travel to and from Iran. Citizens have been strongly advised not to travel to the country by any mode, including air and land routes.

Indians in Iran Asked to Leave

The advisory also reiterated that Indian nationals currently in Iran should make arrangements to leave the country at the earliest, in coordination with the Embassy. Authorities have recommended using designated land border routes and strictly following official guidance.

The Embassy emphasized that individuals should not attempt to approach international borders independently without prior consultation, citing safety concerns amid the volatile situation.

Emergency Contact Details Issued

To assist citizens, the Embassy has shared emergency contact numbers and an email helpline for coordination and support. Officials stressed the importance of staying in touch with the mission for safe exit planning.

This advisory follows an earlier notice issued on April 8, which had also urged Indian nationals to exit Iran promptly in view of evolving regional developments.

Flight Operations Still Limited

Speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing, Aseem R Mahajan from the Ministry of External Affairs stated that while the overall flight situation in West Asia is gradually improving, operations remain limited and subject to safety considerations.

He noted that since February 28, over 12 lakh passengers have travelled from the region to India. Additionally, around 110 flights are expected to operate between the United Arab Emirates and India on a given day, depending on operational conditions.

Advisory Amid Escalating Regional Uncertainty

The latest advisory comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions in West Asia, which have impacted travel routes and raised safety concerns for civilians.

Indian authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have urged citizens to stay updated through official channels and follow all safety instructions issued by the Embassy.
