National Youth Policy 2026: Govt Unveils Outcome-Driven Roadmap to Power ‘Viksit Bharat 2047

The Government of India has proposed a revamped National Youth Policy 2026, aiming to channel the country’s vast young population toward achieving the long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The draft marks a significant shift from the 2014 policy by focusing on measurable outcomes, structured engagement, and data-driven governance, aligning youth aspirations directly with national development priorities.

Six Key Pillars of Youth Development

The proposed policy identifies six core focus areas to guide youth empowerment:

  • Leadership and volunteerism

  • Education

  • Skill development and employability

  • Entrepreneurship and innovation

  • Health and well-being

  • Sports, along with environmental and climate responsibility

These pillars aim to create a holistic development framework, going beyond economic growth to include civic participation, sustainability, and leadership.

MY Bharat Platform: Digital Hub for Youth Engagement

A central feature of the policy is the MY Bharat platform, envisioned as a one-stop digital ecosystem for young Indians.

Key features include:

  • User registration and profile creation

  • Access to volunteering, training, and learning opportunities

  • Integration with programmes across ministries and institutions

  • Real-time tracking of youth participation

Officials say the platform will transform youth from passive beneficiaries into active contributors to nation-building.

Inclusive & Participatory Policy Design

The draft policy has been shaped through extensive consultations via platforms like MyGov, along with inputs from central ministries and state governments. This ensures broader representation across regions and communities.

Data-Driven Monitoring & Evaluation

To ensure effective implementation, the government plans to adopt:

  • Youth Development Index

  • Real-time dashboards

  • Outcome-based monitoring frameworks by NITI Aayog

These tools will help track progress, measure impact, and refine policies based on data insights.

A New Era in Youth Governance

The National Youth Policy 2026 represents a transition towards a digital, participatory, and performance-oriented governance model, placing youth at the centre of India’s growth story.

The details were shared in the Rajya Sabha by Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
