US Warns of Possible Iranian ‘Sleeper Cell’ Activation After Intercepted Encrypted Message

Amid escalating conflict in West Asia, intelligence agencies in the United States have issued a security alert after intercepting an encrypted message allegedly sent by Iran that may serve as an “operational trigger” for activating sleeper agents abroad.

According to a report by ABC News, the coded transmission was intercepted by US intelligence agencies and is believed to contain instructions intended for covert operatives or “sleeper assets” operating outside Iran.

Encrypted Signal Raises Security Concerns

The message reportedly surfaced after the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the early phase of the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel.

US officials said the intercepted communication was transmitted through an encrypted broadcast channel designed to reach clandestine recipients possessing the required decryption key.

According to the federal alert circulated among law enforcement agencies, such transmissions are typically used to send instructions to sleeper agents without relying on conventional communication networks like the internet or mobile phones.

The alert noted that a broadcast station repeatedly transmitted the coded message to multiple countries outside Iran, prompting heightened monitoring by intelligence authorities.

Officials said that although the exact content of the message remains unclear, the sudden appearance of a new station capable of international rebroadcast has raised concern within security circles.

No Immediate Threat Identified

Authorities stressed that no specific location or imminent threat has been identified so far. However, law enforcement agencies have been advised to remain vigilant and monitor unusual radio-frequency transmissions that could indicate covert communication activity.

Rising Security Alert in the US

Counterterrorism experts have warned that the escalating war involving Iran and Israel could increase the risk of retaliatory attacks.

Chris Swecker, former assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), said the current situation raises the possibility of militant groups such as Hezbollah or Hamas attempting attacks inside the United States.

Following US airstrikes on Iran on February 28, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that counterterrorism and intelligence teams had been placed on high alert, with additional security assets mobilised across the country.

Major Cities Increase Security

In response to the heightened threat perception, authorities in major US cities including New York City, Los Angeles and Miami have strengthened security measures.

Additional patrols have been deployed around places of worship, cultural centres and educational institutions to prevent potential security incidents.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump acknowledged that US authorities are closely monitoring the situation and preparing for possible risks linked to the ongoing war.

The developments come as the conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States continues to intensify, raising fears of a broader regional and global security challenge.
