The trailer of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, the much-awaited sequel to the 2025 blockbuster Dhurandhar, has been released, giving audiences a glimpse of a more intense and action-packed storyline. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role and promises a darker, bloodier continuation of the espionage saga.
The 3-minute-25-second trailer begins with a callback to a powerful scene from the first film, where a terrorist provokes intelligence officer Ajay Sanyal, played by R. Madhavan, by calling Hindus cowards and challenging him to retaliate. The insult sparks a fierce reaction from Sanyal, who decides to deploy Ranveer Singh’s character, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, to infiltrate and dismantle terror networks operating across the border.
Rise of a New King in Lyari
With crime lord Rahman Dakait — played by Akshaye Khanna — now dead, the underworld of Lyari is thrown into chaos. The trailer suggests that Ranveer Singh’s character could emerge as the next “badshah” of Lyari, hinting at his growing influence within the criminal ecosystem.
The sequel also teases Jaskirat’s transformation into Hamza Ali Mazari, signalling deeper infiltration into hostile networks. As the plot thickens, the film appears to explore how the undercover operative balances his dangerous mission while navigating a web of betrayal and violence.
High-Stakes Action and Intense Rivalries
The trailer introduces formidable adversaries, including Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam and Arjun Rampal as ISI chief Major Iqbal. Both characters appear to play crucial roles in escalating the conflict, adding layers of intrigue and confrontation to the narrative.
Another important subplot hinted in the trailer involves Sara Arjun’s character Yalina Jamali, who may discover the truth about her husband’s identity, potentially complicating the mission.
Adding to the trailer’s intensity is a remixed version of the popular 2003 track Ari Ari by Bombay Rockers, which begins playing nearly a minute into the video and heightens the adrenaline-filled atmosphere.
What Works — And What Remains a Mystery
Much like the promotional campaign of the first film, the trailer for Dhurandhar 2 carefully reveals very little about the core plot while hinting at high stakes and dramatic twists. While the teaser had previously shown footage from the first film’s ending, the trailer offers several new visuals, including intense gunfights and sequences inspired by real-life incidents.
The original film showed Ranveer’s character transforming from a quiet operative into a ruthless fighter after killing Rahman Dakait. The sequel appears to push that transformation even further, hinting at a much darker and more violent arc.
However, the trailer also raises questions about whether the sequel will deliver the same level of unpredictability as the first film. With audiences now somewhat familiar with the story’s trajectory, the challenge for director Aditya Dhar will be to introduce new twists and keep viewers guessing.
One of the trailer’s most striking moments comes when Ranveer Singh’s character boldly declares that India will now decide Pakistan’s fate, signalling a dramatic escalation in the narrative.
Release Date
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge will have paid premiere shows on March 18 before its official theatrical release on March 19, and is expected to attract significant attention from fans of action and espionage thrillers.
