President Droupadi Murmu to Make Historic Address at Odisha Assembly on November 27

In a landmark moment in Odisha’s political history, President of India, Droupadi Murmu, will address the Odisha Legislative Assembly on November 27 during the winter session—marking the first time a sitting President will speak at the State Assembly.

President Murmu, who once served as an MLA and Cabinet Minister in Odisha, will return to the Assembly in her highest constitutional role, making the occasion deeply symbolic and inspirational for the people of the state.

President Murmu’s Schedule for the Day

According to Odisha Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy, President Murmu will arrive at Bhubaneswar Airport and proceed to Raj Bhavan for a brief rest. She is expected to reach the Assembly at 4:20 pm, with the address scheduled to begin at 4:30 pm.

The event will be attended by Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, opposition leaders, and all members of the House.

Inspirational Journey from Odisha Assembly to Rashtrapati Bhavan

Speaker Surama Padhy highlighted the emotional significance of the moment, noting that President Murmu’s return to the Assembly where she once served is a “matter of pride” for Odisha.

“For the very first time, President Droupadi Murmu will be addressing the Odisha Assembly. This is a matter of pride. She served as an MLA for nine years and was a Cabinet Minister. Her journey from the Odisha Assembly to the Office of the President is truly an inspiration,” she said.

Apart from her Assembly address, President Murmu is also expected to inaugurate a guest house before proceeding to the Assembly premises.
