India continued its strong showing in shooting at the Asian Games 2026, adding three more medals on the third day of competition.
After Elavenil Valarivan secured silver medals in both the women’s 10m air rifle individual and team events on Sunday, India’s men’s shooting contingent delivered another impressive performance on Monday.
Himanshu Dhillon won the silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event, while Rudrankksh Patil claimed bronze. Earlier, the duo teamed up with Parth Mane to win silver in the men’s 10m air rifle team event.
The three medals on Monday took India’s shooting medal tally at the Asian Games to five.
Himanshu Dhillon Claims Silver On Asian Games Debut
Making his Asian Games debut, Himanshu Dhillon produced a composed performance in the men’s 10m air rifle final.
He finished with a score of 252.4 to secure the silver medal.
China’s Sheng Lihao, the reigning Olympic champion and world No. 1, won the gold medal with 254.2, successfully defending his Asian Games title.
Rudrankksh Patil completed the podium with a score of 230.9 after 22 shots.
Close Battle In Men’s 10m Air Rifle Final
The final witnessed a closely fought contest between the three leading shooters.
After 14 shots, Rudrankksh had taken the lead with 148.2, followed by Sheng Lihao at 147.7 and Himanshu at 147.4.
Himanshu then produced a crucial 10.9 to narrow the gap, before Sheng moved into the lead after the 16th shot.
The three shooters remained in contention as the final progressed.
After 20 shots, Sheng was leading with 211.6, while Rudrankksh stood second at 210.6 and Himanshu was third at 210.0.
Sheng eventually secured gold, with Himanshu finishing second and Rudrankksh taking bronze.
India Wins Silver In Team Event
Earlier in the day, Himanshu, Rudrankksh and Parth Mane combined to win the silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle team event.
The Indian trio accumulated a combined score of 1890.1.
China won the gold medal after producing a world-record score of 1899.0, while South Korea secured bronze with 1884.2.
The result added another medal to India’s shooting campaign at the Games.
Himanshu And Rudrankksh Reach Individual Final
Both Himanshu and Rudrankksh qualified for the men’s 10m air rifle individual final.
Himanshu finished seventh in qualification with a score of 630.0, while Rudrankksh entered the final as the third-highest qualifier after recording 631.8.
Parth Mane scored 628.3, placing 11th and missing out on qualification for the individual final.
India Adds Three Shooting Medals On Day Three
With Himanshu’s silver, Rudrankksh’s bronze and the men’s team silver, India added three shooting medals on the third day of the Asian Games 2026.
India’s shooting medal tally consequently rose to five medals, with the discipline continuing to contribute to the country’s overall medal count.
