Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed appointment letters to around 1,326 selected candidates across nine State government departments at the 16th Nijukti Mela held at the Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The recruitment programme is part of the Odisha government’s ongoing efforts to create employment opportunities for young people and strengthen the State’s administrative workforce.
Housing and Urban Development Gets Highest Number of Appointments
Among the nine departments covered under the recruitment drive, the Housing and Urban Development Department accounted for the highest number of appointments, with 364 candidates receiving appointment letters.
The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department followed closely, with 361 appointments.
The department-wise distribution of appointment letters included:
- Housing and Urban Development Department: 364
- Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department: 361
- Energy Department: 240
- Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department: 118
- Health and Family Welfare Department: 111
- Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department: 86
- Sports and Youth Services Department: 26
- Skill Development and Technical Education Department: 10
- Excise Department: 10
The appointments cover a range of posts across different government departments and are expected to strengthen manpower at various levels of administration.
CM Highlights Government’s Employment Drive
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described the event as an important step towards fulfilling the government’s commitments to the youth of Odisha.
“This is the 16th Nijukti Mela, and we continue our efforts towards our commitment to the youth of the State. Our BJP-led government will give appointment to 1,326 candidates today in nine different departments,” the Chief Minister said.
He further highlighted the scale of recruitment undertaken through the Nijukti Mela programme since 2024.
According to Majhi, the State government has provided appointments to approximately 45,408 eligible youths through 16 Nijukti Melas since 2024.
Appointments Aimed at Strengthening Administration
The Chief Minister said the recruitment drive would not only provide employment opportunities but also help strengthen the State’s administrative machinery.
He stated that increasing manpower in government departments would improve the implementation of welfare programmes and help ensure that government services reach people at the grassroots level.
The latest batch of appointments is therefore expected to contribute to the functioning of departments dealing with urban development, rural administration, energy, agriculture, healthcare, fisheries, sports, technical education and excise.
Nijukti Mela Continues as Major Recruitment Initiative
The Odisha government has been organising Nijukti Melas as a platform to formally hand over appointment letters to candidates selected for various government positions.
The latest event marks another phase of the State’s employment initiative, with 1,326 young candidates entering government service across nine departments.
With thousands of appointments made through successive recruitment programmes, the government has reiterated its focus on employment generation and strengthening public administration across Odisha.
