Odisha Braces for Five More Days of Rain; Yellow Alert Issued Across State

Odisha is likely to experience continued rainfall over the next five days, with the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar issuing weather alerts across the state. A Yellow Alert has been issued for all districts through Monday, with several areas expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.

According to the weather forecast, rainfall activity is likely to remain strong across southern, western and northern Odisha, raising the possibility of waterlogging and localised disruption in vulnerable areas.

Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Forecast

Several districts are likely to witness intense rainfall during the current spell.

Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh and Jharsuguda are among the districts where very heavy rainfall has been forecast.

Meanwhile, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj are also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during the period.

The concentration of rainfall across multiple regions has prompted authorities and residents to remain alert, particularly in areas vulnerable to waterlogging and flooding.

Coastal and Northern Odisha May Receive Heavy Rain Today

For today, the weather department has forecast heavy rainfall at some places across coastal Odisha, northern Odisha and parts of southern Odisha.

Several locations may also experience light rain accompanied by thunderstorms, indicating continued instability in weather conditions.

People have been advised to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning and to follow updates issued by the meteorological department and local authorities.

Rainfall to Continue Across Odisha

The latest forecast indicates that the current wet spell is likely to persist for several more days rather than being restricted to isolated districts.

The widespread nature of the rainfall could affect road travel and daily activities in areas receiving intense precipitation. District administrations are expected to monitor vulnerable locations and take necessary precautions depending on local conditions.

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas have been urged to remain alert as rainfall continues across the state.

The Yellow Alert serves as an advisory for potentially disruptive weather, and people are encouraged to take appropriate precautions during periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning.
