OSSSC, OTET Exam Clash Puts Odisha Aspirants in Dilemma

Thousands of government job and teaching aspirants in Odisha are facing uncertainty after the Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) examination and the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) were scheduled on the same day, June 28.

The overlapping examination dates have triggered concerns among candidates, many of whom have applied for both tests and are now forced to choose between them.

Candidates Seek Change in Exam Date

Aspirants have urged the authorities to reschedule either the OSSSC examination or OTET to prevent eligible candidates from losing an opportunity due to the scheduling conflict.

Several candidates have expressed disappointment, stating that months of preparation for both examinations could go in vain if no changes are made.

Exam Timings Create Direct Overlap

According to the official schedule, OTET Paper-I will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, while Paper-II is scheduled from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM on June 28.

The OSSSC recruitment examination is also slated to be held on the same date with similar examination timings, making it practically impossible for candidates to appear in both tests.

The clash is expected to affect a large number of aspirants, particularly those preparing simultaneously for teaching and government recruitment examinations.

OSSSC Exam Was Earlier Scheduled for June 20

The current situation arose after the OSSSC recruitment examination was postponed from its earlier date of June 20, 2026.

The commission had deferred the examination due to the NEET-UG re-examination, which was scheduled for June 21. Citing administrative considerations, the OSSSC later rescheduled the recruitment test to June 28.

However, the revised date has now created a direct conflict with the already announced OTET examination schedule.

Recruitment Drive Covers Multiple Posts

The OSSSC examination is being conducted to fill vacancies across several important government posts, including:

  • Revenue Inspector (RI)
  • Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI)
  • ICDS Supervisor
  • Amin
  • Statistical Field Surveyor (SFS)

The recruitment drive has attracted a large number of applicants from across the state due to the significant number of vacancies and career opportunities it offers.

Aspirants Express Frustration

The latest scheduling overlap has further intensified frustration among candidates, many of whom have already experienced delays and uncertainties in recruitment examinations over the past few years.

Reports indicate that recruitment processes for posts such as Revenue Inspector and Amin have witnessed repeated postponements, administrative issues, and operational irregularities, leading to growing dissatisfaction among job seekers.

Candidates are now hoping that the concerned authorities will intervene and revise the examination schedule to ensure that no aspirant is forced to sacrifice one opportunity for another.

Demand for Immediate Resolution

With only a few days remaining before the examinations, candidates have called upon the Odisha government, OSSSC, and the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, to review the matter urgently.

Many aspirants argue that conducting two major examinations on the same day not only creates inconvenience but also deprives deserving candidates of fair opportunities to compete in both recruitment and eligibility tests.

As concerns continue to grow, candidates are eagerly awaiting an official response regarding the possibility of revising either examination schedule.
