Amit Shah to Visit Odisha on July 4, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan Scheduled for July 9 Visit

Odisha is set to witness two significant high-profile visits in July as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan are scheduled to visit the State within a span of five days. The back-to-back visits of two senior constitutional dignitaries have prompted the Odisha government to begin extensive preparations, with administrative departments coordinating security, logistics, and event arrangements ahead of their arrival.

According to official sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Odisha on July 4 for a day-long programme. During his visit, he is expected to participate in several government functions and interact with key stakeholders from different sectors. One of the major highlights of his visit is likely to be his participation in a programme organised by the Cooperation Department.

Amit Shah’s Visit Likely to Focus on Cooperative Sector

Sources indicate that the Home Minister may review ongoing initiatives related to the cooperative sector and discuss measures aimed at strengthening cooperative institutions across Odisha. The visit is expected to carry political as well as administrative significance, considering the BJP government’s ongoing efforts to expand cooperative networks and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.

Apart from the Cooperation Department event, Shah is also expected to attend additional government engagements, although the final schedule is yet to be officially released. Security agencies and district administrations have already begun preliminary preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the visit.

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan to Attend OUAT Programme

Five days after Amit Shah’s visit, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to arrive in Bhubaneswar on July 9. The Vice President will attend a major event at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), one of the state’s premier educational and agricultural research institutions.

The programme is expected to draw participation from several prominent dignitaries, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Union ministers, senior bureaucrats, academicians, and agricultural experts.

The event is likely to focus on agricultural innovation, higher education, research, and the role of technology in enhancing farm productivity and rural development. Officials said the Vice President’s presence will add importance to the programme and provide an opportunity to highlight Odisha’s achievements in agriculture and allied sectors.

Government Begins Preparations

With both visits scheduled within a short interval, the Odisha government has intensified coordination efforts among various departments. Security arrangements are being reviewed by state police and central agencies, while district administrations are working on logistical planning, traffic management, venue preparation, and protocol-related activities.

Officials stated that detailed itineraries for both dignitaries are still under preparation and are expected to be finalised closer to the dates of the visits.

Odisha Continues to Receive National Attention

The upcoming visits come shortly after President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly visited Pahadpur village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on June 20. The visit attracted national attention as both leaders participated in programmes highlighting tribal culture, education, skill development, and rural empowerment.

During their visit, the President and Prime Minister offered prayers at the sacred tribal groves Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera, recognising the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Odisha’s tribal communities.

They also visited Pahadpur School, a Skill Development Centre, and various tribal exhibition stalls, interacting with beneficiaries and reviewing initiatives aimed at improving education, livelihood opportunities, and capacity-building in tribal regions.

Significance of the Upcoming Visits

The visits of Amit Shah and Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan are expected to further strengthen the Centre-State engagement in Odisha and bring renewed focus to governance, cooperative development, higher education, and agricultural advancement.

Political observers believe the visits also underscore the growing importance of Odisha in the national policy landscape, particularly as the state continues to witness increased investment, infrastructure development, educational reforms, and welfare initiatives under the current administration.

With preparations gaining momentum, both visits are expected to attract significant public and media attention in the coming weeks.
