CM Mohan Majhi Launches ₹1,330 Crore Mega Infrastructure Projects in Keonjhar

Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday rolled out a massive infrastructure package worth over ₹1,330 crore in Keonjhar, marking a significant step in accelerating regional development.

Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted that the district is witnessing rapid progress after years of slow growth, aligning with the state’s long-term goal of building a prosperous Odisha by 2036.

Eco-Friendly E-Buses to Transform Public Transport

A major highlight of the initiative is the launch of a smart and sustainable public transport system featuring 25 eco-friendly electric buses.

Backed by a ₹17 crore ‘Aam Bus’ depot, the project aims to promote green mobility while reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 330–390 tonnes annually.

Key features of the e-buses include:

  • Air-conditioned comfort
  • Affordable fares starting from ₹5
  • GPS tracking systems
  • Panic buttons and CCTV surveillance for enhanced safety

The government has also allocated ₹238 crore for maintenance and future expansion of the service, signalling a long-term commitment to sustainable urban transport.

Multiple Projects to Boost Infrastructure Growth

The infrastructure package includes a wide range of development works:

  • 62 new projects worth ₹704.38 crore with foundation stones laid
  • 24 completed projects inaugurated, built at a cost of ₹250.95 crore
  • 101 upcoming projects announced with an allocation of ₹374.91 crore

These projects span key sectors such as transportation, urban development, and public services, aimed at improving connectivity and quality of life in the region.

Keonjhar Key to Odisha’s Growth Story

CM Majhi emphasised that the coming decade will be crucial for Odisha’s transformation, with Keonjhar expected to play a central role in driving economic and infrastructure growth.

The initiative reflects the state government’s broader focus on balanced regional development, sustainable infrastructure, and improved public services.
