Odisha Govt Hikes DA by 3% for Employees and Pensioners Ahead of Diwali

In a festive bonanza ahead of Diwali, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees. The latest revision raises the DA from 55% to 58%, effective retrospectively from July 1, 2025.

DA Hike Details

The retroactive increase means employees will receive not only the higher DA rate from October onward but also the arrears for the period between July and October 2025. The enhanced DA will be reflected in the October salary disbursement.

This revision applies to all regular state government employees, including those working in public sector undertakings and various state departments.

Pensioners to Receive Higher Dearness Relief

The Chief Minister also announced that state pensioners will benefit from a similar 3% hike in Dearness Relief (DR). The enhanced DR will be included in pensions disbursed in October 2025, covering all retired personnel under the state pension scheme.

Beneficiaries and Implementation

According to official estimates, around 8.5 lakh state government employees and pensioners will benefit from this decision.
The state government assured that payroll and pension systems will be automatically updated to reflect the revised DA and DR rates, eliminating the need for any separate applications.

Festive Gift for State Workers

The announcement comes just days before Diwali, offering a financial boost to thousands of families across Odisha. The move underscores the government’s commitment to supporting its workforce and retirees during the festive season.
