Odisha Recognised for Housing Reforms

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu presented the award to Odisha on Monday, recognising the state’s progress in implementing reforms under PMAY-U 2.0.

The recognition highlights Odisha’s efforts to improve the efficiency, transparency and accessibility of urban housing services and strengthen the delivery of housing benefits to eligible beneficiaries.

Minister Hails Collective Efforts

Odisha Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra described the recognition as a proud moment for the state. He said the achievement reflects the collective efforts of government officials, urban local bodies (ULBs) and other stakeholders involved in strengthening the state’s urban housing system.

According to the minister, the recognition for implementing the highest number of reforms under PMAY-U 2.0 demonstrates Odisha’s efforts towards building a more transparent and people-centric housing delivery mechanism.

He said the achievement would encourage the state to continue working towards the goal of “Housing for All” and ensure that eligible urban households have access to safe, secure and dignified housing.

Over 24,000 Houses Sanctioned Under PMAY-U 2.0

The state also secured the No. 1 position nationally in house completions between March 2025 and March 2026, marking another significant milestone in the implementation of urban housing programmes.

Focus on Strengthening Urban Housing Delivery

The latest recognition is part of Odisha’s continued efforts to improve urban housing delivery and expand access to affordable housing for eligible families.

Through PMAY-U 2.0, the government aims to support eligible urban households in obtaining safe and dignified homes while encouraging reforms that can make housing schemes more efficient and transparent.

The award also underlines the importance of coordination between state departments, urban local bodies and other stakeholders in implementing large-scale housing programmes and achieving the broader national objective of Housing for All.
