Mayurbhanj Woman Fulfils KBC Dream, Wins Rs 12.5 Lakh

A young woman from Khunta in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district has turned her childhood dream into reality by appearing on the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) and sharing the hot seat with Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

Sonali Seshadri, who works as a Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) in the Postal Department, participated in the quiz show and eventually walked away with Rs 12.5 lakh in prize money.

From Childhood Dream To KBC Hot Seat

Sonali had been dreaming of appearing on KBC since her childhood. She registered for the show in January this year and successfully qualified in March.

Her journey continued with an audition in Kolkata in June. After clearing the audition, Sonali was selected to appear on the show and took the hot seat on September 17.

For Sonali, sitting across from Amitabh Bachchan was the realisation of a dream she had cherished for years.

Answered 12 Questions Correctly

During her appearance, Sonali faced a total of 16 questions. She successfully answered 12 questions before deciding to stop the game.

Although she knew the answer to the 13th question, Sonali said she was not completely confident and chose not to take the risk. Her decision ensured that she left the show with Rs 12.5 lakh.

Speaking about the experience, Sonali said she had always wanted to sit on the KBC hot seat in front of Amitabh Bachchan and described the moment as unbelievable.

She also said the three-hour shooting schedule included several light-hearted interactions with the Bollywood actor, who asked about her family and their circumstances.

Mother Accompanies Sonali

Sonali’s mother, Reena Dalei, was present during the programme and shared in the excitement of her daughter’s achievement.

According to Sonali, meeting Amitabh Bachchan and interacting with him made the experience particularly memorable.

Her mother also recalled the journey with emotion, saying that travelling by flight had been one of her own long-cherished dreams and that her daughter’s KBC appearance helped make that dream come true.

She described sitting beside Amitabh Bachchan, speaking with him and shaking hands with the actor as an unforgettable experience.

Family Proud Of Her Achievement

Sonali’s parents work as private tutors and are particularly proud of their daughter’s accomplishment.

Her journey from registering for KBC to clearing the selection process, appearing on the hot seat and winning Rs 12.5 lakh has brought joy to her family and the local community in Mayurbhanj.

Sonali’s story reflects her determination and patience in pursuing a dream she had carried since childhood. What began with a registration in January eventually took her to the KBC hot seat alongside one of India’s most recognisable film personalities.

For the young postal worker from Mayurbhanj, the experience was not only about the prize money but also about fulfilling a long-standing personal ambition.
