The seventh session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin on September 22 and continue until October 3. Ahead of the session, the Odisha Police has strengthened security arrangements around the Assembly premises in Bhubaneswar.
Senior police officials reviewed the security and traffic arrangements ahead of the session to ensure the smooth movement of legislators, officials and VVIPs and maintain security around the Assembly complex.
Senior Police Officials Review Security Arrangements
Odisha Director General of Police Vinaytosh Mishra, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police Narasingha Bhol and other senior officers participated in a review meeting.
The meeting covered several aspects of security preparedness, including arrangements inside and outside the Assembly premises, traffic management and the movement of VVIPs during the legislative session.
Officials also inspected the security arrangements on Sunday to assess preparedness ahead of the commencement of the session.
Three-Tier Security System Put In Place
A three-tier security system has been established around the Assembly premises.
As part of the arrangement, around 30 platoons of police personnel will be deployed inside the Assembly complex.
Security personnel, including members of the Special Operation Group (SOG), will maintain surveillance across the premises and surrounding areas.
The security deployment has been planned across the inner and outer perimeters of the Assembly complex.
Snipers To Be Deployed At Strategic Locations
As an additional security measure, snipers will be positioned at strategic rooftop locations overlooking the Assembly premises.
Their deployment is intended to strengthen surveillance and security coverage during the legislative session.
Police personnel will also maintain close watch over movement in and around the Assembly complex throughout the session.
Dog And Bomb Squads On Standby
The dog squad and bomb squad will remain on standby throughout the Assembly session.
The bomb disposal team will inspect any suspicious object or substance discovered inside or around the Assembly premises.
The arrangements are part of the overall security plan designed to respond to any potential security-related incident during the session.
Traffic And VVIP Movement Under Focus
Apart from security inside the Assembly premises, police authorities have also reviewed traffic management in the surrounding areas.
Special attention is being given to the movement of VVIPs and other authorised vehicles during the session.
The police are expected to maintain coordinated arrangements to minimise disruption around the Assembly complex while ensuring secure movement of legislators and dignitaries.
Security Tightened Ahead Of September 22
With the Odisha Legislative Assembly session scheduled to commence on September 22, security agencies have increased preparedness across the Assembly premises.
The deployment of police personnel, SOG teams, rooftop snipers, dog squads and bomb squads forms part of the multi-layered security arrangement.
Officials said the arrangements would remain focused on maintaining security and ensuring the legislative proceedings continue smoothly until the session concludes on October 3.
