Odisha Secures Rs 2.43 Lakh Crore UAE Investment Proposals, Eyes Over 6.18 Lakh Jobs

Three-Day UAE Investment Campaign Generates 24 MoUs and Agreements; Odisha Pitches Itself as a Global Manufacturing and Emerging Industry Hub

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has attracted investment proposals worth approximately Rs 2,43,162 crore from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during a three-day high-level investment campaign led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. The proposed investments are expected to generate around 6,18,725 employment opportunities, marking a significant boost to the state’s efforts to attract global capital.

The investment campaign, which concluded on Friday, took the Odisha delegation across key business centres in the UAE, including Abu Dhabi and Dubai. During the visit, the state government held extensive discussions with investors, industrialists and business leaders while presenting Odisha’s infrastructure, industrial ecosystem, natural resources and emerging investment opportunities.

The campaign culminated in 24 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and investment agreements, reflecting strong interest from UAE-based companies and global business groups in Odisha’s growth story.

Around 400 Investors Participate in Odisha Business Outreach

The investment campaign witnessed participation from nearly 400 businesspersons, investors and industry representatives. The Odisha delegation used the platform to highlight the state’s changing economic profile and its growing readiness to accommodate large-scale investments.

The discussions focused on Odisha’s existing industrial strengths as well as sectors expected to drive future economic growth. The state government positioned Odisha as an investment destination capable of supporting both traditional industries and new-age businesses.

During the three-day campaign, the delegation conducted 26 one-to-one business meetings and six roundtable discussions, providing investors with opportunities to directly explore potential projects and partnerships.

Investment Interest Spans Emerging and Traditional Industries

The investment proposals and discussions covered a broad range of sectors. Major areas of interest included tourism, logistics, green energy, LNG, artificial intelligence, data centres, critical minerals, ship repair, fertilisers and chemicals, steel and downstream industries.

The diversity of sectors involved reflects Odisha’s efforts to expand beyond its traditional mineral and metals-based industrial identity.

Particular attention was also given to emerging opportunities linked to renewable energy, technology-driven industries and infrastructure development, with the state seeking to attract investments that can create employment while strengthening Odisha’s position in national and international supply chains.

IHC and Adani Group Among Major Business Engagements

The Odisha delegation also held discussions with major industrial groups, including International Holding Company (IHC) and the Adani Group.

The engagements covered potential opportunities in several strategic areas, including critical minerals, rare earth elements, renewable energy, healthcare, industrial infrastructure, tourism and skill development.

These sectors are increasingly important to India’s long-term industrial and economic strategy, particularly as global companies seek diversified supply chains and new locations for manufacturing and infrastructure projects.

Odisha’s mineral reserves, coastline, industrial infrastructure and connectivity were among the factors that helped the state present itself as a potential destination for large-scale projects.

Chief Minister Interacts With Odia Diaspora in Dubai

The UAE campaign also included an engagement with the Odia diaspora in Dubai. More than 80 members of the Odia community met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi during a special programme.

The Chief Minister interacted with members of the community and discussed Odisha’s development trajectory, investment opportunities and the role that the global Odia community can play in strengthening economic and cultural connections between Odisha and other countries.

The interaction also provided an opportunity to highlight the state’s investment potential among Odias living and working in the UAE.

Odisha Seeks to Build a New Global Investment Identity

The three-day campaign was aimed not only at securing individual investment proposals but also at repositioning Odisha on the global investment map.

For decades, Odisha’s industrial image has been closely associated with mining, minerals, metals and heavy industries. Through the UAE outreach, the state sought to communicate a broader investment narrative covering advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, emerging technologies, infrastructure, tourism and other sunrise sectors.

The government presented Odisha as a state with the potential to become a major manufacturing and investment destination for a rapidly evolving India.

The scale of investment interest generated during the UAE campaign is expected to strengthen Odisha’s efforts to attract global businesses, diversify its industrial base and create large-scale employment opportunities in the coming years.

A Significant Step in Odisha’s Global Investment Outreach

The Rs 2.43 lakh crore investment proposals and projected 6.18 lakh-plus employment opportunities mark a significant outcome for the state’s international investment outreach.

With 24 MoUs and investment agreements signed during the campaign, the Odisha government is now expected to focus on converting the proposed investments into projects on the ground.

The UAE engagement has also reinforced Odisha’s strategy of building stronger international business partnerships while presenting the state as a competitive destination for both established industries and emerging sectors.
