Cuttack Urban Police District (UPD) conducted a major enforcement drive on September 2, 2026, checking 600 vehicles and imposing fines totalling Rs 6.75 lakh for various violations. The enforcement details were shared by the DCP Cuttack through the official X handle.
The drive was carried out as part of efforts to strengthen traffic discipline and ensure compliance with applicable laws across the city.
600 Vehicles Checked During Drive
According to the enforcement report, police officials verified 600 vehicles during the operation.
The drive focused on identifying violations and taking action against motorists found breaching traffic and other regulations. The total amount collected in fines during the enforcement was Rs 6,75,000.
Of this amount, Rs 23,000 was imposed under the Odisha Urban Police Act (OUP Act).
The enforcement action highlights the police department’s continued focus on monitoring road users and ensuring that traffic regulations are followed.
Two Drunk Drivers Detected
The enforcement drive also targeted driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police detected two drivers allegedly driving in an intoxicated condition during the September 2 operation. Such checks are aimed at preventing accidents and improving road safety by identifying motorists who pose a potential risk to other road users.
Six Booked Under COTPA
The enforcement operation also included action under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
As per the report, six people were booked under COTPA during the drive.
The action forms part of the wider enforcement effort covering different types of violations in the city.
Police Step Up Enforcement
The latest figures reflect Cuttack UPD’s efforts to maintain law and order while improving compliance with traffic and other applicable regulations.
