Several personnel from Odisha have been selected for the Police Service Medals 2026, recognising their exceptional courage, distinguished service and meritorious contributions. The awards were announced on Thursday across the Police, Fire Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence, and Correctional Services categories.
Among the Odisha Police personnel selected for the honours, five will receive Medals for Gallantry, while two personnel have been chosen for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. A total of 17 Odisha Police personnel have been named for the awards.
Across Odisha’s various services, the honours also include personnel from the Fire Service, Home Guard and Civil Defence, and Correctional Service.
Five Odisha Police Personnel Receive Gallantry Medals
Five Odisha Police personnel have been selected for the Medal for Gallantry (GM) for acts of exceptional courage and bravery.
The recipients are:
- Manmath Kumar Mohapatra, Sub-Inspector
- Nirakar Bhue, Havildar
- Santosh Gurung, Commando
- Suman Pun, Commando
- Suresh Chandra Puta, Commando
The recognition highlights the contribution of police personnel who have demonstrated courage while carrying out their duties in challenging circumstances.
Distinguished Service Medals For Senior Odisha Police Officers
Two Odisha Police officers have been selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM).
They are Sanjeeb Panda, Additional Director General of Police, Odisha, and Smitarani Mohanty, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Odisha.
The distinguished service honour recognises sustained and exceptional service in the respective departments.
10 Odisha Police Personnel Get Meritorious Service Medals
Ten more Odisha Police personnel have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
The awardees are:
- Manoranjan Paikray, Deputy Superintendent of Police
- Suresh Kumar Bal, Deputy Superintendent of Police
- Gitanjalee Panda, Inspector
- Bhabesh Kumar Nayak, Deputy Commandant
- Paresh Kumar Minati Nandan Pati, Assistant Commandant
- Shyamali Biswas, Constable
- Barun Kumar Naik, Sub-Inspector
- Subash Chandra Trinath Gouda, Havildar
- Mustaque Alli Khan, Constable
- Prasanta Kumar Biswal, Havildar
Odisha Fire Service Personnel Also Honoured
Three personnel from the Odisha Fire Service have also been selected for Police Service Medals 2026.
Malaya Kumar Mohanty, Assistant Station Officer, will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
Meanwhile, Nuel Kerketta, Driver Havildar, and Amitav Raj, Assistant Station Officer, have been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service.
Home Guard And Correctional Service Awards
The honours also extend to personnel working in other uniformed services.
Aviram Sethi, Home Guard, Odisha, has been selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service under the Home Guard and Civil Defence category.
From the Correctional Service, Pramod Kumar Swain, Chief Warder, and Biswanath Panda, Warder, have been selected for Meritorious Service Medals.
Over 1,000 Medals Announced Nationwide
The 2026 Police Service Medals include a total of 1,057 awards across the three categories.
These comprise 301 Medals for Gallantry, 92 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service and 664 Medals for Meritorious Service.
The recognition of personnel from Odisha reflects their contribution to maintaining law and order, public safety, emergency response and correctional services across the state.
