Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to step up efforts to attract investment in the state’s growing food processing sector with the ‘Odisha Food Pro 2026’ roadshow scheduled to be held in New Delhi on Friday. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead the state’s investment pitch, presenting Odisha’s business opportunities and industrial potential before investors, industry leaders and key stakeholders from the food processing sector.
The investment promotion event is aimed at positioning Odisha as a preferred destination for food processing industries by highlighting its abundant agricultural resources, industrial infrastructure, investor-friendly policies and expanding business ecosystem.
Odisha to Highlight Food Processing Opportunities
During the roadshow, the state government will showcase the investment potential available across a wide range of agriculture and allied sectors.
Key areas expected to receive attention include:
- Marine and seafood resources
- Fruits and vegetables
- Millets
- Agricultural produce
- Food processing and value-added products
- Allied agricultural industries
Officials are expected to highlight Odisha’s availability of raw materials and its growing infrastructure as major advantages for companies looking to establish food processing units.
The government aims to attract fresh investments while encouraging businesses to establish processing facilities closer to sources of agricultural production.
Focus on Building a Strong Food Value Chain
A key objective of the Odisha Food Pro 2026 initiative is to strengthen the state’s agricultural value chain by promoting greater processing and value addition.
Instead of exporting or selling agricultural products primarily as raw commodities, the government wants to encourage investments that can convert them into higher-value processed products.
Such investments could help reduce wastage, expand market opportunities for farmers and strengthen connections between agricultural producers, processors, retailers and consumers.
Investment Push Expected to Generate Jobs
The state government’s investment strategy extends beyond attracting capital. It also aims to establish Odisha as a major food processing hub capable of generating employment and supporting sustainable economic growth.
The expansion of food processing industries is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities, particularly for young people, while providing new markets for farmers and producers.
Greater industrial activity in the sector could also contribute to the development of logistics, cold-chain facilities, packaging, transportation and other supporting industries.
Industry Leaders and Investors to Participate
Representatives from leading industry associations, businesses and food processing companies from across the country are expected to participate in the New Delhi roadshow.
The event will provide Odisha with an opportunity to directly engage with potential investors and communicate the state’s policy framework, infrastructure advantages and investment opportunities.
The government is also looking to build long-term partnerships with private companies to accelerate development across the food processing ecosystem.
Strengthening Rural Economy Through Food Processing
The Odisha government believes that increased investment in food processing can play an important role in strengthening the state’s rural economy.
By promoting processing and value addition within Odisha, the state aims to improve income opportunities for farmers, create new employment avenues and encourage agriculture-linked industrial development.
The Odisha Food Pro 2026 roadshow is therefore expected to serve as an important platform for presenting the state’s food processing potential to national investors and laying the groundwork for new projects and partnerships in the sector.
