Public darshan at Jagannath Temple will remain suspended from 4 pm on Monday until the completion of the Sandhya Dhupa rituals as the temple administration resumes the long-pending inventory of ornaments stored inside the Ratna Bhandar.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration announced that the counting and verification of ornaments belonging to Lord Jagannath will restart in accordance with the standard operating procedure issued by the Government of Odisha.
Inventory work resumes after ritual pause
The inventory process had earlier been paused because of the ongoing Bahara Chandan Yatra rituals.
According to Arabinda Padhee, the remaining work inside the Ratna Bhandar will continue for two days — Monday and Tuesday.
He said the verification process resumed on May 11 and will continue on May 12, though officials have not given a definitive timeline for final completion.
Transparent verification process
Temple authorities said the work is being carried out smoothly and strictly under the prescribed SOP.
The administration has maintained that the entire exercise will be conducted transparently, with all procedures being documented carefully during the counting and verification of the ornaments.
The Ratna Bhandar inventory is considered a significant administrative exercise because it involves the official verification of valuable ornaments and sacred items associated with Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
Temporary darshan restrictions
Officials said public entry restrictions have been imposed only to ensure the smooth conduct of the inventory process inside the secured treasury chambers.
Devotees visiting Jagannath Temple have been advised to plan their visit accordingly, as normal darshan will resume after the completion of the Sandhya Dhupa rituals.
