The annual Plus Two examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Odisha are set to begin across Odisha on Wednesday under enhanced and technology-driven security arrangements, including AI-enabled CCTV monitoring at question paper hubs for the first time.
Officials said the move marks a major shift in examination oversight, with artificial intelligence-based cameras and advanced CCTV systems installed at sensitive locations. The monitoring network is being directly supervised by CHSE authorities to ensure transparency and prevent malpractice at every stage of the process.
AI Cameras, Live Streaming and Hub-Level Monitoring
According to examination authorities, live streaming is being carried out from the moment sealed question papers are collected from hubs until they are opened at designated examination centres. The AI-enabled surveillance system is designed to detect suspicious activity and trigger alerts in real time.
All nodal and storage centres, including strong rooms where question papers are kept, are under continuous watch throughout the examination period. Officials have warned that any irregularity flagged by the system or inspection teams will invite immediate action.
Controller of Examinations Prashant Kumar Parida said candidates must reach their respective centres by 9:30 am and be seated by 9:45 am after verification and frisking. Live streaming arrangements have been put in place at 1,364 examination centres statewide.
Over 4 Lakh Students Appearing for Plus Two Exams
This year, a total of 4,01,623 students are appearing for the Plus Two examinations across different streams. The examinations will continue till March 28, with staggered scheduling and layered monitoring mechanisms.
To strengthen enforcement on the ground, 102 flying squads have been deployed across five supervisory levels to conduct surprise inspections and respond quickly to complaints or violations.
CHSE Vice-President Amulya Kumar Pradhan said all hub and nodal centres remain under strict surveillance and the council has built redundancy into monitoring systems to avoid blind spots.
Matric (HSC) Exams from Thursday
Meanwhile, the High School Certificate examinations will begin from Thursday across Odisha. Around 5,61,979 students are scheduled to appear at 3,082 centres with separate security and monitoring arrangements.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said elaborate preparations have been made to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examinations and minimize the possibility of irregularities.
Authorities have urged students to follow reporting-time instructions strictly and cooperate with verification procedures at centres.
