Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms over the next two days, with the weather department forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in parts of northern and coastal Odisha.
The forecast indicates that weather conditions may remain unsettled in several districts on September 30 and October 1, with some areas likely to experience thunderstorms and winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph.
Yellow Warning Issued for 14 Districts
A Yellow Warning has been issued for 14 districts for Wednesday.
The districts covered under the warning are:
- Sundargarh
- Keonjhar
- Mayurbhanj
- Balasore
- Bhadrak
- Jajpur
- Kendrapara
- Jagatsinghpur
- Cuttack
- Puri
- Khordha
- Nayagarh
- Ganjam
- Gajapati
People in these districts may experience light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning during the forecast period.
The weather activity is expected to be more prominent in parts of northern and coastal Odisha, although the forecast also covers districts in the southern coastal belt.
Gusty Winds Up to 40 Kmph Expected
Along with rainfall and thunderstorms, gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph are likely in the districts under the Yellow Warning.
The combination of lightning, thunderstorms and strong winds could temporarily affect normal activities in some locations.
Residents are advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms, particularly in open areas and near trees, electric poles and other vulnerable structures.
Rainfall Likely to Continue on October 1
The unsettled weather is not expected to be limited to Wednesday.
According to the forecast, several of the warned districts may also receive rainfall on October 1.
