Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved 19 industrial investment proposals worth ₹3,280.58 crore, with the projects expected to generate around 10,661 employment opportunities across several districts of the state.
The proposals were cleared during a meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) held on Tuesday and chaired by Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg.
The approved projects span multiple sectors, including biofuel, steel downstream, textiles and knowledge-based services, with investments planned across different regions of Odisha.
19 Industrial Proposals Receive Approval
A total of 19 industrial proposals received clearance during the SLSWCA meeting.
The projects are expected to contribute to industrial activity and employment generation in districts including Angul, Deogarh, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Cuttack, Khordha, Koraput, Puri and Sundargarh.
The range of sectors covered by the proposals reflects the state’s focus on attracting investments beyond traditional industries.
Biofuel Projects Form Major Part of Proposals
Several of the approved investment proposals are related to the biofuel sector.
Biofuel projects have been proposed across districts including Balasore, Bolangir, Bargarh, Ganjam and Kalahandi.
Additional projects in the sector are also planned in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sonepur.
The projects are expected to add to industrial capacity in the respective districts while creating employment opportunities linked to production and associated activities.
Steel, Textiles and Knowledge-Based Services Also Included
Apart from biofuel, the approved investment proposals cover steel downstream industries, textiles and knowledge-based services.
The diversification of sectors is intended to support industrial development across different parts of Odisha and expand opportunities for investment and employment.
The projects will be established across both industrially developed regions and districts where new investments are expected to support local economic activity.
Investments Spread Across Multiple Districts
The geographical spread of the approved proposals means that the expected employment generation will not be limited to a single industrial cluster.
Districts such as Ganjam, Angul, Jharsuguda, Cuttack, Khordha, Koraput, Puri and Sundargarh are among the locations identified for projects.
The biofuel proposals further expand the geographical footprint of the latest investment approvals, covering several districts across northern, western and southern Odisha.
Earlier ₹2.47 Lakh Crore Investment Package
The latest approvals come after the Odisha government cleared a much larger set of investment proposals earlier.
The state had previously approved 27 major industrial projects involving a proposed investment of ₹2,47,115.70 crore.
These projects were cleared during the 46th meeting of the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA).
According to the information provided, the earlier projects have the potential to generate around 50,162 jobs across 15 districts of Odisha.
Odisha Continues Focus on Industrial Investment
The latest SLSWCA approvals add another set of projects to Odisha’s ongoing investment pipeline.
With the new proposals covering biofuel, steel downstream, textiles and knowledge-based services, the state is seeking to expand industrial activity across multiple sectors and locations.
The proposed ₹3,280.58 crore investment and 10,661 employment opportunities will depend on the subsequent implementation of the approved projects.
