Odisha is set to strengthen its weather monitoring and forecasting capabilities with the installation of an advanced Doppler Weather Radar in Sambalpur. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is scheduled to inaugurate the new radar system at 2:10 pm today.
The Chief Minister is expected to arrive at Jamadarpali Airstrip before proceeding to Jogipali, where the inauguration ceremony will be held.
C-Band Radar To Monitor Weather Conditions
The newly installed system is a C-band Doppler Weather Radar capable of providing weather-related data within a radius of approximately 250 kilometres.
The radar will help meteorological authorities monitor a range of weather conditions, including:
- Rainfall intensity and distribution

- Heavy rainfall
- Deficient rainfall
- Developing severe weather systems
