Berhampur: A massive fire broke out at a car service centre near the bus terminal in Haldipadar, Berhampur, in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Saturday, triggering a major firefighting operation. The intense blaze reportedly caused extensive damage to vehicles, equipment and other materials kept inside the premises.
Soon after receiving information about the incident, fire services personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby establishments.
Nearly 10 Firefighting Teams Deployed
The scale of the blaze prompted the deployment of nearly 10 firefighting teams, which worked for an extended period to bring the situation under control.
Officials also deployed a robotic monitor during the firefighting operation to tackle the intense flames and improve the safety and effectiveness of the response.
The fire reportedly engulfed a large portion of the service facility, where several vehicles had been kept for servicing. According to reports, both newly arrived vehicles and vehicles brought in by customers for servicing were extensively damaged in the blaze.
Nearby Two-Wheeler Service Centre Also Affected
The fire also spread to some extent to a nearby two-wheeler service centre, damaging materials and property there.
Firefighters focused on containing the blaze to prevent it from reaching other nearby establishments and potentially causing further damage in the area.
The incident created concern among local residents and people in the vicinity of the bus terminal due to the intensity of the flames and the large number of vehicles present at the facility.
Short Circuit Suspected
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been officially established. However, a short circuit is suspected to have triggered the blaze, according to preliminary information.
