Odisha DGP Reviews Security Arrangements Ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s Three-Day Visit

Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess security preparations for President Droupadi Murmu’s three-day visit to Odisha from August 3 to August 5.

The meeting focused on implementing comprehensive security measures, including multi-layered protection along the President’s travel routes and at all event venues across the state.

President to Attend Events in Cuttack and Berhampur

During her visit, President Murmu is scheduled to participate in two major public programmes—one in Cuttack and another in Berhampur in Ganjam district.

On the morning of August 4, the President will travel by train from Bhubaneswar Railway Station to Berhampur as part of her official itinerary.

She is also scheduled to visit the Maa Kandhuni Devi Temple at Taptapani Hot Spring in T. Gobindapur Panchayat under Sanakhemundi block, where she will offer prayers before having lunch.

Extensive Security Measures in Place

Speaking about the preparations, Odisha DGP YB Khurania said extensive security arrangements have been made to ensure the President’s visit is conducted safely and smoothly.

“For the visit of Honourable President Droupadi Murmu, we have made extensive arrangements. We have also intensified security. She will be visiting Odisha for three days, from August 3 to 5. During her visit, she will be attending two major events, one in Cuttack and another in Ganjam’s Berhampur. We have taken all the required steps ahead of her visit,” the DGP said.

Multi-Layered Security and Railway Vigilance

During the review meeting, the DGP directed officials to establish multi-layered security protocols and carry out comprehensive technical inspections along all VVIP movement routes.

Given the President’s train journey, special emphasis has been placed on railway security. Officials have been instructed to intensify patrolling along the entire rail corridor and deploy additional personnel at all railway level crossings.

Railway employees assigned to platform duties during the President’s visit are also being identified in advance and will be issued special duty passes to ensure seamless coordination.

Coordination Among Agencies

Senior officials have been directed to maintain close coordination between the Odisha Police, Indian Railways, and the General Administration Department to ensure foolproof security and smooth execution of the President’s programme.

The security review is part of the state’s extensive preparations for one of the highest-level VVIP visits, with authorities aiming to ensure the visit remains safe, secure and incident-free.
