PM Modi Condemns UAE Attack, Stresses Safety of Strait of Hormuz

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on the United Arab Emirates that left three Indian nationals injured, calling the targeting of civilians and critical infrastructure “unacceptable.”

The Prime Minister’s remarks came a day after a drone strike triggered a fire in a major oil industry zone in Fujairah, where three Indians were reported injured. The UAE has accused Iran of carrying out the strike.

In a post on X, Modi said India stands firmly with the UAE and supports a peaceful resolution of the escalating tensions through dialogue and diplomacy.

India Reaffirms Support for UAE

“The attack on the UAE that resulted in injuries to three Indian nationals is unacceptable,” the Prime Minister said, adding that India remains in full solidarity with the Gulf nation during the crisis.

The statement comes at a time of growing concern over regional stability in West Asia, especially as attacks on energy infrastructure raise fears of wider geopolitical fallout.

Strait of Hormuz in Focus

Modi also highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that safe and uninterrupted navigation through the vital maritime corridor is essential for regional peace, global trade, and energy security.

A significant share of the world’s oil shipments passes through the Strait of Hormuz, making any disruption there a matter of global concern. India, which depends heavily on energy imports from the Gulf region, has repeatedly underlined the need to keep shipping lanes open and secure.

Rising Concern Over Indian Nationals Abroad

The incident has also drawn attention to the safety of Indian nationals living and working in the Gulf. The UAE hosts one of the largest Indian diaspora populations, and developments in the region are being closely monitored by New Delhi.

Officials said India continues to advocate de-escalation and remains committed to supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
