Amazon India Expands Logistics Network in Odisha with 52 New Delivery Stations

Amazon India has significantly expanded its logistics infrastructure in Odisha with the launch of 52 new last-mile delivery stations, strengthening its presence across the state.

The expansion covers key urban centres including Bolangir, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, and Puri, building on the company’s earlier investment in its first fulfilment centre in Bhubaneswar.

Boost from Bhubaneswar Fulfilment Centre

The fulfilment centre, located at Giringaput in Bhubaneswar, has a storage capacity of around 0.25 million cubic feet. By bringing inventory closer to customers, the facility has enabled faster deliveries—reportedly improving same-day and next-day delivery speeds by up to five times.

Strengthening Seller-Consumer Connectivity

According to Karan Chugh, Director of Operations at Amazon India, the expansion aims to reduce the distance between sellers and consumers, ensuring quicker and more efficient order fulfillment.

Economic Impact and Job Creation

The expansion has had a notable impact on the local economy. More than 1,000 new sellers from Odisha have joined the platform since the fulfilment centre became operational.

The growing logistics network is also generating employment opportunities across multiple segments, including sorting, warehousing, and delivery operations.

Rising Demand Across Districts

Customer demand has seen a sharp rise in districts such as Angul, Ganjam, and Rourkela, particularly in categories like electronics, groceries, and beauty products.

Boost to Digital Economy

The latest expansion is expected to further empower small businesses and local entrepreneurs by improving market access and delivery efficiency. It also reflects Amazon India’s long-term commitment to strengthening Odisha’s growing digital and e-commerce ecosystem.
