Long Queues Outside LPG Agencies in Bhubaneswar as Consumers Face Delay in Cylinder Delivery

Long queues of consumers were witnessed outside several LPG gas agencies in Bhubaneswar as residents struggled to obtain cooking gas despite placing bookings weeks in advance. Many customers alleged that they have not received LPG cylinders even after booking them 20 to 25 days ago, leading to frustration and inconvenience among households that depend on the fuel for daily cooking.

Consumers claimed that distribution companies have failed to ensure timely supply, forcing many residents to visit gas agencies personally to collect cylinders. Several residents also alleged that home delivery services have been suspended in multiple areas, adding to the difficulties faced by people.

Long Wait for LPG Cylinders

People were seen standing in queues for two to three hours or even longer outside LPG distribution centres across the city. The delay in supply has created significant inconvenience for families, especially those who rely solely on LPG for their daily cooking needs.

Many consumers said that despite completing the booking process weeks earlier, the cylinders have still not been delivered. As a result, several residents have started visiting gas agencies directly in hopes of securing their booked cylinders.

One consumer shared his experience while waiting outside an agency.
“I came here to collect the gas cylinder as I had run out of stock for the past two to three days. I booked it on the 2nd of this month and came on the 9th, but did not get it because the day’s stock was already over. I finally received the cylinder on Wednesday after waiting for several days,” he said.

Officials Say Situation Stable

The sudden rush for LPG cylinders has come amid concerns triggered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East involving countries such as Iran, Israel and the United States. The geopolitical tensions have led to a rapid rise in global fuel and oil prices, which has created panic among consumers in many parts of the country.

However, government officials have repeatedly assured that the situation remains stable and that there is no shortage of LPG supply at present. Authorities have urged consumers not to panic and stated that supply chains are being monitored to ensure regular distribution.

Black Marketing Allegations

Some consumers have also alleged that the disruption in supply has led to black marketing of LPG cylinders, making it even more difficult for genuine customers to obtain cooking gas. According to residents, the rising fuel prices and uncertainty over supply have encouraged illegal sales at higher prices in certain areas.

The situation has raised concerns among households in the state, with many urging authorities to ensure timely delivery of booked cylinders and strict action against black marketing so that consumers do not face further inconvenience.
