Haldiapadar, Odisha: Amid growing concerns over the changing nature of Holi celebrations—often marked by loud DJ music, alcohol consumption, and westernized party culture—a spiritually profound and culturally rooted “Adhyatmic Holi” celebration at the Radha-Krushna Temple has emerged as a meaningful alternative, earning praise from saints, youth, local residents, and the wider community.
The event witnessed the participation of thousands of sants (sadhus), devotees, and a large number of young people who gathered to celebrate Holi through chanting, satsang, and devotional bhajans. The spiritually charged atmosphere reflected the original essence of the festival—inner purification, harmony, and devotion—culminating in Prasad Sevan that reinforced the values of unity and collective well-being.
The unique celebration was conceptualized and guided by Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Hon’ble Minister for Steel and Mines, Commerce and Transport. Significantly, the Hon’ble Minister himself was present at the event, actively participating in the proceedings and engaging with saints, youth, and devotees. His personal involvement highlighted his strong commitment to cultural preservation and youth-oriented social reform.
The occasion was further graced by the presence of senior district officials, including S Vivek, Superintendent of Police, Berhampur, and Prathamesh Arvind Rajshirke, Commissioner of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC), along with other district-level administrative officers. Their attendance underscored institutional support for initiatives that promote social discipline, cultural values, and spiritual awareness.
Local residents expressed deep satisfaction and pride in witnessing such a culturally enriching celebration. A. Rama Rao, a local businessman and long-time resident of the area, openly appreciated the initiative and the Minister’s vision. “At a time when many youths are getting involved in alcohol consumption and reckless dance culture during festivals, this kind of spiritual initiative can save thousands of young minds. It gives them direction, discipline, and purpose,” he said.

During an interaction with the media, the Hon’ble Minister reiterated his belief that youth are the foundation of the nation’s future. He emphasized that it is essential for young people to remain connected with India’s traditions, cultural legacy, and spiritual values. “Our festivals are not just occasions for celebration; they are instruments of character building and social harmony. When youth stay connected to our roots, the nation remains strong,” he stated.
The Adhyatmic Holi celebration at Haldiapadar thus stood out as more than a religious gathering—it became a socially impactful movement that successfully blended governance, spirituality, and community participation. Widely appreciated by residents and observers alike, the initiative has set a compelling example of how traditional festivals can be celebrated in a disciplined, meaningful, and value-driven manner under visionary leadership.
