The alert specifically flags the vicinity of the Red Fort and temple clusters in the busy Chandni Chowk area as potential targets.
According to intelligence notes shared with field units, terrorists may attempt to carry out an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in densely populated zones that see heavy daily footfall from devotees and tourists. The warning has prompted immediate preventive deployment and intensified monitoring across sensitive pockets of the national capital.
Surveillance, Checks and Anti-Sabotage Measures Intensified
Delhi Police, along with central security agencies, has stepped up surveillance and ground checks in and around heritage sites, temples, and major congregation points in Old Delhi. Multiple layers of security have been added, including increased patrolling, barricading, and random vehicle checks.
Bomb detection squads and anti-sabotage teams have begun systematic sweeps near religious places and tourist hubs. CCTV monitoring has been tightened, and plainclothes personnel have also been deployed in crowded marketplaces and entry points to quickly identify suspicious activity.
Security units are coordinating closely with central intelligence agencies to track any unusual movement, communication patterns, or logistical preparation linked to possible threats.
Retaliation Angle Under Probe
Inputs suggest the suspected plot may be projected by handlers as a retaliatory move following a recent blast at a mosque in Islamabad earlier this month. Agencies are verifying the credibility and linkage of this claim while continuing precautionary measures on the ground.
Officials said alerts have not been limited to one neighbourhood alone, and prominent temples and high-footfall religious locations in other cities are also being kept under precautionary watch as part of a broader security grid.

Authorities have urged citizens, shopkeepers, and visitors in high-footfall areas to remain vigilant and promptly report any unattended objects, suspicious behaviour, or unusual activity to the nearest police unit.
