Mardaani 3, starring Rani Mukerji in her iconic role of SSP Shivani Shivaji Roy, continues its steady run at the domestic box office. Directed by Abhiraj Minwala, the hard-hitting crime drama has earned close to ₹20 crore nett in India within four days of its theatrical release, reaffirming the franchise’s strong connection with audiences.
According to early estimates, Mardaani 3 collected around ₹2.15 crore nett on Day 4, taking its total India collection to approximately ₹19.65 crore. The film opened with ₹4 crore on Day 1, followed by ₹6.25 crore on Day 2 and ₹7.25 crore on Day 3, showing a healthy upward trend over the weekend before stabilizing on Monday.
Produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, the third instalment continues the franchise’s tradition of socially relevant storytelling. While Mardaani (2014) exposed the grim reality of human trafficking and Mardaani 2 delved into the psyche of a violent serial offender, Mardaani 3 tackles another urgent and disturbing social issue — child trafficking.
Written by Aayush Gupta, the film also features Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad in pivotal roles. The story follows SSP Shivani Shivaji Roy as she investigates the mysterious disappearance of 93 young girls over a span of three months, leading her into a dark and complex criminal network.
Speaking about the film’s impact, Rani Mukerji said that cinema has the power to go beyond entertainment and awaken social consciousness. She expressed hope that Mardaani 3 would make audiences uncomfortable enough to spark reflection and dialogue around the safety of children.
“This film belongs to everyone who believes cinema can speak to our conscience. Discomfort is where change begins. Our girls don’t need sympathy, they need protection, courage and voices raised for them — now, not tomorrow,” Rani said in a statement released by YRF. She added that she feels humbled by the strong emotional response the film has received from viewers.
With positive word of mouth and a powerful message at its core, Mardaani 3 is expected to maintain a stable performance at the box office in the coming days, strengthening the franchise’s reputation as one of Bollywood’s most impactful crime drama series.
