Cuttack Bali Yatra Extended by One Day Amid Massive Public Response and Business Boom

Cuttack, Odisha: In a delightful announcement for festival-goers, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday declared that the historic Cuttack Bali Yatra will continue for one more day. Originally scheduled to conclude on November 12, the annual riverfront fair will now officially end on November 13.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the decision was taken after reviewing the record-breaking public turnout and the surge in business activities witnessed at the festival grounds.

“Considering the immense interest of visitors and the enthusiastic participation of traders, the duration of Bali Yatra has been extended by one more day,” the CMO statement said.

The decision ensures that visitors and traders alike get more time to experience the fair, which celebrates Odisha’s ancient maritime trade connections with Southeast Asia — a legacy that continues to inspire cultural pride across the state.

Record Footfall and Brisk Trade

Officials said that this year’s Bali Yatra has drawn lakhs of visitors daily to the banks of the Mahanadi River, transforming the Cuttack waterfront into a bustling hub of heritage, culture, and commerce.

Thousands of traders from across the country have set up stalls, selling handicrafts, textiles, household goods, traditional sweets, and local delicacies. Sources added that the decision to extend the festival was prompted by both massive footfall and strong business activity, which exceeded expectations this year.

Cultural Programs and Final Day Plans

Meanwhile, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Cuttack said discussions are underway regarding special cultural events and a possible concert by a leading Bollywood singer on the final day.

“The Cuttack Collector will hold a meeting this afternoon with relevant departments and share the planned activities for November 13,” the ADM informed.

Enhanced Security and Crowd Management

With the extension, local authorities have stepped up security, traffic control, and crowd management measures to ensure smooth operations on the final day.

The extended schedule is expected to further boost trade and tourism, giving families, tourists, and locals one last chance to enjoy the grandeur of Odisha’s most cherished festival.

The Cuttack Bali Yatra 2025 will now officially conclude on Thursday, November 13, marking another successful edition of the centuries-old maritime celebration.
